Recently, M.T.H. Electric Trains placed several rare toy train prototype models on loan to the Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum! The models, a diesel engine and matching bobber caboose lettered for WSX Blast Furnace (Weirton Steel), are the art samples for these two limited production items, which were released in mid 2005. The trains, which were designed by Patrick Petros of Patrick’s Trains, located on 29th Street in downtown Wheeling, sold out quickly, showing that there is still a great deal of interest in local rail and steel history! Petros and MTH are teaming up again to do an engine/caboose pair for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, due for release in the near future. You can now see these rare models on display here at the museum for only a short time, and you can pre-order the upcoming Wheeling Pitt pieces from Patrick’s Trains (his website is in our “links” section).
